| Bio: | [ let's break time ]
canon character/series: Kiden Nixon (NYX/Marvel Universe) name: Kiden Nixon age: 16 gender: Female race/ethnicity: Mutant / American sexuality: Flexible appearance:
On first impression Kiden may look like a brat, or a runaway, or a recovering meth addict. Only one of those is actually true, however. She's a runaway, and it's evidenced in her run down clothes, mostly hand outs or scraps pulled together from the trash. Her blonde hair which used to be only a bit longer than chin length has grown out and in need of a cut, hanging down to her shoulders now. Her face is still round and still looks like she should be in school, but a year of dumpster diving has thinned out her body, which is msotly still undeveloped and closer to a twelve year old boy's than a supermodel's.
If her blue eyes are uncofused it's because she just spent three months in 'no time', not because she's high. While Kiden used to smoke and perhaps some other drugs, she's clean now. Her excursions in and out of time haven't seemed to help her height, as she's stuck at five foot two or so. Her skin is fairly unblemished, with the occasional pimple, but she's a teenager, those things happen.
Barefoot is a luxury Kiden can't afford on the street or stowing away. She wears a pair of worn tennis shoes that have seen better days and a constanty companion is the sweatshirt she ran away in which has NYC emblazoned on the front. The only other things she still wears from when she ran away is a collection of plastic bracelets, twenty one of them, on her right wrist.
personality:
For a while Kiden was nothing but rebellious. Her father had died when she was young and her mother had to raise twin boys, Kiden and a son. It had been a messy time and Kiden found herself doing things just to get out of the house. She didn't care about rules and found herself with more guidance counselor passes than dollars. However, she has mellowed considerably.
Kiden is fairly laid back, despite some of her initial words. It takes a lot to get her angry and she has a protective side to her. There's an acceptance of the weird wired into her, but also a thirst for adventure and excitement. She swings back and forth between her polar opposites, but often finds a good middle ground.
For someone of her age and background, Kiden has a fairly good moral compass. She knows exactly what society wants of her, she just chooses to ignore it sometimes. The world is about more than fun, she knows this lesson a bit too well. While hardly 'too serious' Kiden can often act older than her age.
abilities/weaponry:
By saying 'STOP', Kiden can stop time. Well, she slows it down to nothing more than a crawl. While everything stops, she is free to move around. Time doesn't actually stop, however. While she spends four months, time may move about three days. This is what she calls 'no time' and when she's in no time she doesn't need to eat or drink. Skin contact brings her back into the 'normal' time. If Kiden is hitting someone while she's in no time and they are in regular time, her physical blow is amplified tenfold.
She also gets futuristic hints from what appears to be the spirit of her dead father.
weaknesses:
Kiden has to verbally activate her power. If she has no voice, it doesn't work. The longer she stays in no time the more light headed she gets, it's like being high, she says. Any skin contact will bring her back to normal time, kisses, touches, accidental brushing up against, that sort of thing. When she does, her touch is far more powerful than it should be and she can accidentally hurt people.
She's also still just a sixteen year old girl. Kiden is susceptable to trickery and being hurt or maimed just like anyone else. She has explored her power, but has not completely mastered it.
history:
Kiden Nixon is the second child. She grew up in New York City, not spoiled, but certainly not poor. Her brother Ty and her constantly clashed, but the family seemed fairly happy. Kiden's father was a law enforcer for the Power, until he was shot and killed in front of Kiden by an 'unnamed street punk'. This caused a giant rift in the family. Kiden and her brother did more than butt heads, they were callous and angry. Their mother was erratic and moody and the twins ran rampant.
In high school Kiden was a trouble child. Her mother tried to do her best to raise her well, but Kiden got into fights, went to raves and was all around a rebellious teen. Which wasn't so bad, but then Kiden got on the wrong side of a kid name Hector at school. Hector and Kiden had a few confrontations, the last two which ended in violence. First Kiden discovered her time stopping power and broke Hector's arm, and in the second one, Hector pulled a gun on her. Once again Kiden stopped time, but when she accidentally touched Hector time resumed itself and the teacher who had been standing behind Kiden got shot again.
Not wanting to deal with the repercussions, Kiden made a run for it. She lived on the street for a while, and discovered how to stop time purposefully. Then she went into no time for what was four months to her (her hair kept growing and her watch continued to tell time) but it was three days for the rest of the world. She came out of no time by kissing a homeless boy named Alex.
Kiden lived with Alex and his 'tribe' for a while on the street. They taught her how to beg for money, dumpster dive and just get along. It was a fun time, relaxing and completely low key. Then Kiden thought she saw her father. It wasn't like he walked down the street, but he sat down next to her, bleeding like when he died and told her she had to get out of town. Kiden made a run for it, again, but she moved back into no time.
When she came out of no time, Kiden had been gone for six months her time, but barely five days normal time. However, she was now far away from New York and America. Lightheaded and perhaps a bit out of it, Kiden stowed away on the Artemis' Bow, hoping not to be discovered until they were well out to sea.
crew position: Stowaway, so no real position, shhhhhhh.
